At Landshore Enterprises, we’re dedicated to providing effective solutions for erosion control and drainage management. We recently assisted a community in central Florida with a challenging ditch stabilization project, ensuring the safety of property areas and enhancing drainage systems.

Project Overview:

The ditch, originally designed to be 30 feet wide and 10 feet deep to handle storm event conveyance, had suffered significant erosion over time. The high water flow led to scouring erosion and sedimentation, with concentrated runoff areas causing washouts and gullies along the ditch embankment. The steep embankments began receding towards the properties, posing a risk to the community.

Our Objectives:

  • Stabilize the slopes to ensure the safety of property areas.
  • Redesign the ditch to reduce water velocity and enhance drainage.
  • Ensure compliance with the St. Johns River Water Management District.

Solutions Implemented:

  • Rock Riprap Boulders: Used for ditch bottom and side slope stabilization, providing a robust solution against high water flow.
  • Synthetex® Hydrotex Enviromat FX300: Installed for embankment stability and permeability on the property owners’ embankment, ensuring long-term durability.
  • Stepping Pools: Created to reduce flow velocity, preventing further erosion and enhancing water management.
  • Plantings: Incorporated into the Enviromat to assist with drainage and provide a natural aesthetic, blending functionality with beauty.

This intricate project required precise planning and construction to address the eroding forces of scouring, sheet flow, and seepage. We’re proud of the successful outcome, which has enhanced the community’s safety and improved the overall drainage system.
